Melanie Mumma has devoted her life to working with survivors of Complex PTSD, childhood abuse, neglect, narcissistic abuse, and sexual assault since the early 1980s. As a scapegoat in a narcissistic family, she endured constant abuse until becoming emancipated at 15. She was self-sufficient working, renting a room and finishing high school.

Melanie became friends with a group of educators, lawyers, political activists, and government employees wanting to eradicate racism and child abuse. The start of a lifes journey studying psychology, and the concept that as individuals have the ability to control our own minds.

Melanie became known as the "go-to" person for teens thrown out of their homes or abused by their parents, and women escaping abusive relationships with her outspoken, no-nonsense approach to life. Always seeking answers and solutions, refusing to subscribe to mindless conclusions that there was "nothing you can do" or "they will never be right" that pervaded all of society.

Her journey began with helping people escape toxic environments and learn to take control of their lives. This evolved into an obsession with reading and studying the latest research findings by leading neuroscientists, psychiatrists, and psychologists.
